Meet Rev. Matt Gregory
Pastor Matt Gregory and wife, Elayna Gregory
Email Pastor Matt
Matt grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Luray, Virginia. After graduating from high school, he attended Liberty University, where he met Elayna, and earned a bachelor of science degree in church ministries. In 1992, he married Elayna and began serving as youth pastor at Open Door Baptist Church in Culpeper, Virginia. While in Culpeper,
three sons were added to the Gregory Family.
In 2003, Matt had the opportunity to serve as interim pastor at Open Door after long-time pastor and friend, Mark Jarvis left the church. During this year, God began to birth seeds He had long ago planted in Matt’s heart. During 2003, Matt discovered that he enjoyed pastoring all ages (not just students). Matt’s desire to see lives changed and influential leaders reproduced led Matt to join the front lines of ministry: Church Planting.
On April 1, 2004, after much prayer and thought, Matt left Open Door and became a church planter with the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia. The Gregory Family moved to Bealeton, Virginia on May 31, 2004, to start Soul Purpose Church in Fauquier County.
Matt balances family, church work, financial consulting, continued study toward a master’s degree, along with his love of sports (golf, football, basketball).
